They are good, they are bad, they are weak, they are strong, they are wise, they are foolish….so am I.
Sam Walter Foss.
So am I.
When we heal enough to identity with the human race, we know we are on the road to recovery.
For most of our lives we have felt like another species. Observers, we stood back and watched the behaviour of others, making value judgments based on our black and white thinking. We attributed God like qualities to some, while others were judged to be bad.
As we join the human race we begin to see the ebb and flow of human responses. We are imperfect, and as such, it is not always possible to live up to those Golden Rule, but there is another gem that we can turn to when we falter. It’s called the Serenity Prayer, and it can light our way.
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can and wisdom the know the difference. Nothing can bring you peace but yourself.
Ralph Waldo Emerson
