“Hatred is self-punishment” -Old Proverb
When you remove the letter B from blame you are left with the word, lame. Blame, resentment, revenge and self pity are crippling feelings. When we hold on to them, we are forced to limp through life, handicapped by our inability to love.
The underlying cause is hate. Its venom poisons everything we feel or don’t feel. Coiled, it strikes anything that comes too close to something that lies even deeper within us.
That something is hurt, a deep childhood hurt we think too painful to feel. Little care was given to this wound and it festered into a hot swollen mass called hate.
We don’t have to continue in this self-punishment. We can begin to unwrap the layers that cover this old wound and let it feel the healing touch of love.
I can feel the hurt of abandonment and rejection and now recapture my ability to love.
