It is easy to fall into the trap of thinking we are not worthy or a worthwhile human beings. That we have not achieved enough in life or on the flip side, we have achieved too much and are just so brilliant it would be very difficult for another human being to be quite as wonderful as us. It is never a good idea to compare ourselves to others. Identify with others but avoid comparing.
There will always be someone smarter, taller, shorter, thinner, fatter, blonder etc than you are, but there will also be someone not as smart, not as dedicated, not as kind, not as rich, not as pretty and so on, so comparing yourself to others is a waste of time. It is wrong on so many levels. Comparing yourself to someone else could mean that you are either beating yourself up, being egotistic, being unkind to yourself or to them, being grandeous or vain. Either way, we are all unique and there is only one of us in the universe. We are all special and beautiful. We are all children of the universe. Each one of us is unique.
Be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here.
Taken from Desiderata.
Right here, right now I will remember my worth in this world, I will not compare myself to anyone else and I will be grateful for my nature, my family, my looks, my life and my spirituality, I have so much to be thankful for and I am thankful that I am a child of the universe, I have the right to be here just like everyone else.
