Sing a different tune – poem of hope

Each morning greet yourself with kindness as you look in the mirror
know that no one is completely without regret and some form of error

We all have times when our hearts are feeling particularly low
with more than our fair share of some unfortunate blows

Sometimes memories of the past and regrets cloud our mind
but there is always hope if serenity is willing to be found

There is no time like the present to change your path
never forgetting along the way to take time to have a laugh

The bigger the challenge we are likely to face
will be best if treated with respect and a little grace

We cannot change the past and all that it offers
but we can stand up and react to not being scoffers

Like the saying “All work no play makes jack a dull boy”
get your life in order with new thoughts to employ

push through those difficulties and reap the rewards
after all it is only ourselves that will be keeping the scores.

Just remember to keep your side of the street clean
don’t let the haze confuse you or put up a smoke screen

take care of yourself and don’t take personal remarks to heart
daily progress is all we wanted from the start

The time to change things is the best that it will ever be
being a better person and happier to some degree

Don’t let anyone prevent you from being the best you can
it doesn’t matter whether you are a woman or a man

Please know you are here for a purpose that is important for you
and remember the treasures of your soul and know what you can do

strengthen your mind and be active with each passing day
even if you are not religious, to your higher self you should pray

show kindness whenever possible and empathy to all
get things done when they need to be and attempt not to stall

Although sometimes not always simple, but these rewards can be reaped
but allow yourself enough time for the appropriate amount of sleep

Last but not least, let your “no” mean a “no”,
that is a master lesson if ahead you wish to go

For you are here for a reason
and it is not just for a season

You are soft, kind and gentle and always bear that in mind.
If only you realised you are one of a kind.
